As we are living in a digitalized and smarter world, so this current era is called the communication and information era. This is because of the digital data that is collected, processed and then information is transferred. The first is a step for any organization for any problem is to collect data, this data is raw data, then this data is processed according to the requirements, now the this processed data is called Information. The system that manages information is called the Information system. The information System does not only consist of hardware like PC, printer, etc, software and data, but a team that gives instructions to PC that how to process data and what data should be extracted. After extracting the required data or we can say that after taking information, the team will take decisions based on information. This whole system is called an information System.

There are various methods of determining different information systems and their classification but the most of the systems that are used are following:

· The Management Information System (MIS)

· Executive information system (E.I.S)

· Decision Support System (D.S.S)

· Expert Systems (E.S)

· Work Group Support System (W.G.S.S)

· Transaction Processing Support (T.P.S)

· Office Automation Systems (O.A.S)

The management Information system is the integrated system of hardware and software that allows managers to make a decision for successful operation. Management Information System refers to the computer-based system that provide different tools to the manager of an organization to work or take decision efficiently. The above definition can be understood by word to word meaning:

· Management means Practical use of power of decision making

· Information means processed data or extracted data

· System means technique of use of information for business

So, simply management information system is making decision using information. The management information system is related to various field, some of them are:

· Decision support system

· Resource and people management system

· Enterprise resource planning

· Supply chain management

· Customer relationship management

· Project management and database retrieval application
